Easy to make: Salted Apple Brie ToastThe only thing sweet about watching the Academy Awards this past Sunday was the yummy viewing treat I made. Usually I like to order out on Oscar night, but my family has implemented a “once a month order out” rule and there was a pizza emergency earlier in February.

I decided to make one of my favorite treats that I used to make for house parties when I lived in Los Angeles.

Salted Apple Brie Toast

• Bread suitable for toasting (I LOVE Trader Joe’s Tuscan Pane bread)
• Butter (enough for every slice of toast and to use in apple cooking)
• 3 medium sized apples (Fugi works great) (you can also use pears)
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 tablespoon of sugar
• Pinch of: cinnamon, nutmeg, clove
• Brie cheese, sliced long wise (enough to put at least one slice on every piece of toast)
• Large cookie sheet
• Medium sized skillet

1. Turn your oven on to 400
2. Butter one side of toast and place butter side down on cookie sheet, place cookie sheet in oven
3. Peel and slice apples
4. Heat remaining butter in skillet, add apples
5. Sprinkle seasonings into butter/apples, reduce to low heat
6. When oven beeps that it is heated to 400 pull cookie sheet out
7. Flip over every slice of bread and place Brie on each slice
8. Put toast with Brie back in oven and broil
9. Keep an eye on your toast, once you see the Brie begin to soften (about 2 minutes) remove from oven
10. Spoon apples directly on top of Brie
