dove-bodywashWithin the past few months my morning routine has changed significantly. In the past, W was up many days before six. When he woke up he was wired and ready to be fetched from his crib. Now he slowly rises and plays with the toy cars that he takes to bed.

As soon as I hear him babbling I bolt out of bed and do the morning math. Oh don’t tell me that you guys don’t do morning math! It’s that twenty-second calculating of what I have time to do before the toddler banshee screams begin. If the sounds are already pretty loud from W’s room I know there are maybe 4 minutes before he starts thinking of creative exit plans. I use those 4 minutes to wash my face and get dressed.

If the sounds are quiet – just the sound of cars vrooming across his striped sheets – I know that I have 7-8 minutes. SEVEN TO EIGHT minutes!! And let me tell you those minutes are golden. Magic. That means Mama can have a shower in the morning!!

[Look, I know there will be those of you with super fantastic kids that allow you to shower in the morning without fear that some big time chaos will happen in the den. To that I say- congratulations. I have a kid that requires eye contact at all times.]

BlogHer sent me something to try out while I’m celebrating my shower opportunity: Dove Nutrium Moisture Body Wash. We all know Dove has good stuff and this body wash is lovely. There isn’t a heavy perfume to it so you won’t feel like you are bathing in fruit salad. Sorry, I’m in my 30’s – I don’t want to be tutti fruity! It lathers great and more importantly it rinses off fast.

Obviously time is of the essence in the morning and as we head into the cooler months in the Northeast I know that extra step of slathering on lotion after a shower will soon be important. As I was drying off I noticed how soft and smooth my skin was and I realized – this body wash is so moisturizing that I can skip that step when I’m in a rush.

Taking care of your skin is one of those things that sets the tone for how you nourish yourself for the rest of the day. Grabbing that banana and drinking an extra glass of water before you leave the house seems to just become an extension from the outside in. I kind of love how that happens!

I want to know: How are you nourishing yourself every day?
