Ollie Myrle’s Buttermilk Pound Cake
(Ollie Myrle Chandler Fowler – 8/11/16 – 3/29/99)
Sift together in a Bowl:
3 cups plain flour
½ tsp soda
½ tsp baking powder
¾ tsp salt
Mix together in large mixing bowl:
1 cup Crisco
2 cups sugar
4 eggs (unbeaten)
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
Add flour mixture and 1 cup of Buttermilk to creamed mixture.
Alternate the flour mixture and buttermilk. (Begin and end with flour mixture).
Bake in tube pan that has been coated with Crisco and flour. Bake for 1 hr. at 350 degrees.
I sincerely wish I knew who Ollie was or what her connection was to my Grandmother. How wonderful would it have been to have had afternoon tea with an Ollie and a Millie?
