I am sure you have heard about the group that strongly opposes JC Penney hiring Ellen DeGeneres as part of JCP’s new ad campaign. This group threatened JC Penney saying that hiring Ellen was anti family. Because Ellen is gay. And according to this group being gay means you are anti family.
As a friend of many, many, MANY gay families I literally laughed out loud. Really? Oh boy.
I heard about bloggers uniting this weekend to show support of JC Penney for not caving to the pressure of a bully group and I knew I wanted to be a part of it. It was nice to send a message to a company that was THANK YOU.

We didn’t manage to shop this weekend, but we love JCP, so it’s nice to hear that they are doing the right thing.
there is always on-line shopping…
JCP has always been a terrific store. But now – with its new management from Apple – it’s a fabulous store. They’re doing everything right, including having the fabulous, popular Ellen as a spokesperson who the majority of women (target market) do adore. I am amazed by their new marketing look and just bought their stock this morning. I see a great and major future for them.
wow – buying stock is a heck of a lot more of a thumbs up that the shirt I bought. GO YOU!!
My wife has been a serious marketer since we were in school – she’s the best! She is the one who went crazy over their Sunday insert (Dallas). So I took a look at the stock (my 2nd job, LOL!) and really like it. I know that the new CEO (from Apple) is really sensational – and look at Apple stock! Anyway, I have a lot of confidence in JCP’s future!
My husband and I who both live in Utah bought towels, showere curtain, and a much needed skillet. We had fun and told every clerk we saw that we loved there new spokeman Ellen…
that is great!!
I’m very sad to say that I’ve been so out of it lately I had no idea this was going on. Had I known, I would have dashed over there instantly. JCP has really been rocking lately, and I’ve made a note of a few things I want to pop in and nab, right after I gave them a round of applause.
It’s not too late! You can always shop online and let JCP know you support their supporting Ellen.
Well I did in fact go shopping at JCP this weekend. But I didn’t know anything about the controversy until Ike and I were walking into the store. As he told me I rolled my eyes and we both said how stupid that is.
I bought some baby items for my friend who just brought home her beautiful son that she and her husband adopted! We got some receiving blankets and some very funny bibs. We especially liked the “spit happens” one.
it totally was a stupid stance the hate group took. Congrats to your friend! That is wonderful news!!
What a waste of energy – why don’t One Million Moms direct their attention toward something good worth doing?
I don’t generally shop at JC Penney’s, but it has nothing to do with their spokesperson. Their new pricing/marketing plan is intriguing, so I may start shopping there again.
Pillows from the store…and I have 2 dresses in the shopping cart!
