I did a little research on SOPA and PIPA, and was surprised by how little actual information was in the vast majority of the articles and videos I found. Mostly it was anti-censorship messaging and “don’t kill our internet” with mentions of piracy.
Without reading the bills themselves, I gathered that actually IS the problem. The legislation is so broad and sweeping that it could easily be abused and over-reached–limiting all of our ability to produce content because of any perceived infringement of copyright. After hearing a segment on the patent process in this country I definitely see the problem. Literally any and every idea can be argued as copyright infringement.
Okay, blah blah balah.
