Found Photo

by on May 3, 2011

Last week I scrambled trying to find this one specific photograph of Millie mowing the lawn at the rental house in Tuscaloosa. The house that is now destroyed by a tornado.

Thankfully I found it. I still haven’t been able to connect with Millie’s best friend and her family and I am still hoping this is just because of power outages in the city. It’s the waiting and trying not to worry, because there probably is no need to worry, but oh my goodness WHERE IS SHE, kind of worry that is hard. Know what I mean?

I ate doughnuts for dinner last night and thought about the Krispy Kreme that is now just a memory from my childhood.

I love this picture! And am glad to know that you (or someone) was RIGHT there in case of mowing a little too close to the power cord. Geez, those type of mowers have always made me nervous! But so cute in her aqua dress and umm… are those Converse on her feet?? Just too cute! Love you bunches and am trying to think of an answer to your emailed question, but yes I think I would.

She had little Keds, in blue, worn always with pantyhose.

Duh – I am sorry about the devastation that comes with this photo. What a hell of a week it has been for any of us with loved ones in the region. They all remain in my thoughts… Love you!

I’m sure it is just the power problems. I hope you are able to connect with her soon.

I work for a telephone company and they aren’t even scheduling individual visits from techs until next Monday and that’s if the infrastructure is working again. Hopefully, Millie’s friends are only without telephone service. A co-worker took a heart wrenching call on Saturday. The customer needed her phone working to call family and inform them of the family that died. Ugh. How sad.

I bet it is the power outage, and I am sure her friend (or many in that generation) doesn’t have a smart phone. After the tornado, my only link was my iphone while I sat in my car, and even then, the cell phone towers around me had been hit by the tornado, so my connection was spotty and frustrating at best.
