It was a lovely day today. Grey skies, cold weather, a bit of snow still on the earth, errands to run and friends to meet.
This evening we arrived back to the house happy and tired. One of us required cranky baby bath bubbles (but I won’t name names…).
As I took the dog out after super I looked up to the sky and found a bright dot in the heavens. I closed my eyes and with every fiber of my being I channeled all kinds of hopes and wishes that I have for my family and my friends. I kept my eyes closed a bit longer than I usually might, just enjoying the stillness of the night and the soft clanking of Charlie’s leash as he rooted around the yard looking for adventure.
When I opened my eyes the vibrant dot I had fixated on was gone. Vanished. And my first thought was that the sheer power of my hopes had burst the star into a bajillion fragments and that everything I had visualized would now fall into place.
But then I realized that the light was just an airplane. I know there is a song about wishing on stars…but what happens when you accidentally wish upon a 747?

I think the wish counts double.
I think you get good things for all of your wishes, plus everyone on the plane.
Maybe the plane carries your wish to where it needs to be?
You call it a shooting star and believe your wishes will come true.
you go on vacation???
Now I have “…leaving, on a jet plane…” stuck in my head.
Hopefully it means your wish will come true.
You ride it closer to the moon so you can land on a star.
I think it means that you get three extra wishes. I love this post
The jet takes the wishes where the need to be delivered!
You fly baby, FLY!!!!
Your wish most definitely counts!!! Love you!
I would say of course the wish still counts.
Have you ever seen a satelite? I did once and at first couldn’t figure out what it was. Star sized but moving across the sky very rapidly and seeming much farther away than an airplane.
Where do you live? I have to fly next week and I’m hoping you’re not on my flight path.
Or maybe that you are.
Maybe it’s the thought that counts?
It’s all about the moment you created.
