The yard of this house showcases what I am sure are stunning plants and flowers in other seasons. In the winter, however, the flora hunkers down and goes a bit pale. I noticed some stray cotton shrubs the other day and was amazed by their strength and awkward beauty. In the face of so much these plants have held their own. I am cotton. Or at least I aspire to be breathable. Or something like that.
Really I just like this photo and I keep looking at it and seeing me in it. Is that weird?
The most important thing about today is that a certain someone around these parts is officially 9 months old. We attempted a mini photo shoot this morning after a bath and I learned something- photographing a now VERY mobile baby is hard. I have 300 action shots and maybe 5 ended up in focus. Here is one where he is hanging out in another fort of his and showing off his super hero garb.
(by the way I entered W into the Regis & Kelly beautiful baby contest because if his adorableness can earn him some college money we are taking this show on the road!)
I was going to write a super frustrated post about insurance, because lawd knows nothing says WOO! like an insurance rant. But I am stopping myself and telling my inner freakoutazoid that it is going to work out. I will say that I received a letter in the mail today telling me that there was a delay and that the delay is because I have not submitted all the information they need. And yet no where on the letter does it say WHAT they need. And all the people I have spoken to on the phone can’t find what else is required…and yadda, yadda.
Tomorrow I am going up to Baltimore to witness a dear bloggy friend’s Capping and Pinning. Beforehand I am going to go walk a labyrinth. Charging the camera as I type…
I also just wrote back to my sister. It is weird. Still processing.

He’s such a beautiful kid- and those tights! We have to find a pair for Miles
Happy 9 months!
Love the long johns! W looks super adorable as always. and yah, it’s okay to see yourself in the cotton shrub for all the reason’s you stated
I like that you see yourself in that picture. Happy 9 months W!
Def. the cutest thing I’ve seen all day.

xoxo
Can we vote for W in the Regis and Kelly contest????? Where do we go?
Wow. Here, I’ve been all caught-up in my own life and major changes the past two years, I am a bit ashamed to say I stopped reading all the blogs I loved so much and felt to inspired by – your definitely included.
I was just thinking of you last week, wondering about you and your Grandma and what was going on in your life – and typed in the blog addy and up come gorgeous pictures of your family including a sweet darling little boy!
At the risk of sounding cheesy, I am so glad you had the strength to persevere on! Big hugs to you and family – I’ll try and be a regular reader again when possible.

He totally is captain adorable – happy 9 months!
And seriously, insurance companies can suck it. I hate them.
I want to know where you found the Captain Adorable shirt!!! I seriously just want to squeeze him! I hate that he is already 9 months old and I still haven’t seen him in person…… {{crying}}… ahhhh well, maybe someday. Happy 9 months W.! And happy breathable cotton thoughts to you love!
That is an incredibly beautiful photograph. We don’t have cotton plants here, well I’ve never seen any, so have no idea what cotton looks like growing! It just comes on reels or in the form of a t-shirt teehee.
Captain Adorable he sure is!
So glad our insurance here in Australia does NOT work like yours over there, it sounds terrifying.
good luck and hugs
The labirynth is at my church…..why am I geeked out that you are around the corner from me. So weird since I don’t even know you. Anyway….I was thinking that I should tell you abou the coolest library of all time as well. Let’s hope everyone doesn’t find it and fill it up with their cute kids cause well…..sometimes at least I am selfish like that. The baltimore county public library rossville branch has what is called storyville. Which is the best fing play town for children from birth (YES BIRTH) up to age 6. It is awesome. It is free. We (well our Lilly who is one year) LOVE IT! Totally worth it even for babies. FUN STUFF. Check it out.
I linked to this blog through stirrup queens, and have to say that as a woman getting ready to take the (expensive… damn infertility) path to motherhood alone (prince charming is taking his sweet-ass time), it gives me so much hope to see a picture of your beautiful little boy. I want one. I really really do. Thank you for sharing your story and giving me something to look forward to!
I’m glad W is finally out of the closet with the crawling… I just joined the hulu.com crowd. Yep, satellite TV bit the dust on Thursday. I guess I can find better things, like COBRA payments, for my $65 per month. I did decide that my internet connection needs a little upgrade. The slowest DSL is somewhat annoying. I tried calling them company twice, but the sales line was too busy to put me on hold. WTF.
I’m glad you’ve been busy – it helps with the craziness of worrying about money all the time.
