Breakfast is one of my favorite things. I like to wait until I am near starving and then dig in to well done, extra crispy hash browns, a couple of slices of turkey bacon, a bite or two of a cool melon, and eggs. If I am having a big breakfast, like the one in my favorite meal fantasy, I like a simple and dry scramble. But if I am doing a quick breakfast there is nothing quite like eggs on toast. And don’t even get me started on eggs with caramelized onions and tomatoes…
Question Five: How do you like your eggs? What is your dream breakfast?

mmmm breakfast! i like eggs over easy, english muffins with LOTS of butter (!!), sausage, hash browns and diet coke (heh! i hate juice/hot beveragest).
I uh, actually am not usually hungry for breakfast until it’s nearly lunch time.
I like scrambled eggs with American cheese. But 99% of the time I eat non-breakfast food in the morning. Leftovers from the night before or a half of ham sandwich. Today I had leftover chicken noodle soup.
I’m with you, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I love some seriously real buttermilk biscuits, or even the pillsbury flakey ones. Droooooooool.
And eggs. Especially when feta and spinach and tomatoes and onions are involved.
And french toast.
And froot loops.
If I could only eat on meal for the rest of my life, it’d be breakfast, and I’d never get bored.
fav weekend breakfast ~ my mom’s dippy eggs (over easy) with toast and hot tea with cream & sugar / i also will never be a vegetarian because i adore scrapple. my mom makes kickass french toast too.
fav holiday (thanksgiving) breakfast ~ pumpkin waffles, topped with pumpkin ice cream and whipped cream, irish sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, tea with local (oregon) honey and a table surrounded by my sister and her hubby and my most awesome nephews.
hmph. now i am hungry.
I could eat breakfast for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Egg sandwiches: overeasy, cheese, bacon, english muffin – My favorite!
Blueberry pancakes
French Toast
Yogurt parfait
I’m hungry.
While I looove bacon and suasage, I think my favorite thing for breakfast is scrambled egg sandwiches the way my Grandmother made them. You scramble your eggs (2) with nothing but a little salt and pepper, toast 2 slices of bread, spread with mayo and top with american cheese and then add your eggs to the top of that, smash down and eat it up! Oh yum……… but typically I can’t eat ANYTHING in the mornings. I have to wait until about 10 to be able to eat. So it’s coffee and water until then.
My dream breakfast? Garlic cheese grits with lots of black pepper, eggs benedict with the eggs over hard and spinach, perfectly cooked thick cut pepper bacon, a perfect bloody mary, and homestyle hashbrowns with peppers and onions – yum…..
Hmm. Tough one. Eggs fried over medium. Sourdough toast to dip in the eggs. (Dry sourdough toast, no need for butter since you’ll have egg sauce on them.) Some nice breakfast ham. Breakfast potatoes. The ones from Bob Evans are the best, I think because they use like a whole stick of butter in each serving.
I will also accept scrambled eggs with cheese or Eggs Benedict.
Mmmm, eggs. If it can’t be an omelet, I want them scrambled and very dry.
Ideal breakfast (and this one will reflect that I haven’t eaten since oh, about 3 pm yesterday) would be a nice big ham and cheese omelet, with some crispy hash browns on the side, and a slice of wheat toast–unbuttered, because despite my otherwise stereotypical Midwestern-ness, I can’t stand the stuff. I’d like a mimosa with that since I just got off work, but plain old OJ will have to suffice.
eggs scrambled with cheese, carmelized onions, and tomatoes are definitely one of my faves! Yum yum!
Breakfast is my favorite meal too!
I like my eggs over medium, and I like to eat them with fresh salsa or some kind of spicy sauce. My dream breakfast would include blueberry pancakes, over medium eggs, maple smoked bacon, coffee, orange juice, and hey why not have some home fried potatoes since this is my dream breakfast!
I also really love Egg McMuffins. Not my dream breakfast but always a delicious option!
my favorite breakfasts were made by this little family-owned Mexican restaurant in socal, either beef machaca or rajas (chilis) con huevos. it was always served with fresh fruit, beans and rice, amazing salsa and homemade chips and champagne (which they pronounced cham-pan-nya). I still fantasize about these breakfasts, but now we just make our own machaca, or what happens more often (ok, every Sunday) is my husband makes his own version of chilaquiles, which is basically toasted pieces of corn tortilla scrambled with eggs and cheese, which we top with hot sauce. YUM!
Poached eggs on toast with salty butter. YUM!
My favorite breakfast is on the brunch menu here:
The Potato Roesti is THE BEST EVER. Mr S would say he is a fan of the Hoppin’ John.
I don’t like eggs unless they’re baked into something. My dream breakfast is a belgian waffle, crispy bacon, and fresh fruit.
Poached, served in a small dish with a little salt on top. With rye toast. Mmmmmm.
Yum, breakfast. I actually just ate a bacon and cheese sandwich!
I love a big breakfast – real bacon, hasbrowns, dry scrambled eggs and toast with lots of butter.
The kids both love homemade french toast and pancakes with real Canadian maple syrup.
Eggs: simple. Fried sunny side up, in butter. With salt and some hot sauce on the side.
Maybe with some whole wheat toast, home fries and a slice of orange. Just as cooked at my favorite breakfast place. http://www.greenstreetcafe.net/
Pepperjack cheese omelette. Biscuits. Skillet-fried potatoes. Dad’s homemade sausage gravy ladled over the lot. Fresh ground french-pressed coffee with a bit of cream, no sugar.
Scrambled eggs with home fries with onions. Toss in some BBQ sauce on the eggs and I’m in heaven. I actually don’t eat eggs too much. I usually have them if I go out to breakfast, I rarely make them at home. Don’t know why – maybe too much trouble. I’m currently out of eggs.
Oh goodness, I’m totally drooling…
Eggs – scrambled is fine for the every day, usually with some salt & pepper, maybe a touch of garlic powder if I’m making them at home.
But fantasy breakfast wise? Scrambled eggs with caramelized onions, fried salami, salt, pepper, and some cheese – enough so that it comes out of the edges and gets browned. Probably swiss or provelone. French toast made from challah with vanilla in the batter. Perfectly cooked, thick cut, applewood smoked bacon. Cheesy hash browns.
Other favorite? The Polish Omelet from Gest Omelets in Farmington Hills, MI – crepe style eggs with polish smoked sausage and lots of swiss, topped with a sour cream sauce (like a thick, garlicky ranch). It’s a must have breakfast anytime I go home to visit the family.
Guilty-ish pleasure – toasted, buttery white bread with a thin layer of scrambled/fried egg (made on an industrial griddle cook top) wrapped around american cheese, topped with a sausage patty. Called a TK on Toast at my grad school a la carte cafeteria. Mmm.
I love love love breakfast any time of day. My lovely wife makes amazing French toast. I make kick ass pancakes (fresh nutmeg, no buttermilk). If I don’t want a sweet breakfast then it’s 2 eggs over easy with salt and pepper over a piece of dry toast with crispy bacon crumbled over it. It’s like a messy open faced sandwich. Yum! The easiest eggy breakfast is Egg in a Basket.
Fantasy breakfast: eggs benny with a side of roasted & herbed tomatoes and really good breakfast sausage. And since this is a fantasy, it should be served room service at the Shangri-La hotel in Bangkok, just before my day at the spa.
YUM!
let’s see my breakfasts tend to be:
Monday-Friday: nothing usually or tea with a toasted poppy bagel with butter or if there is time and money: scambled eggs, cheese and bacon on a toasted bagel. Sometimes oatmeal makes their way. hard boiled eggs too.
Weekend breakfasts: Bacon, broccoli and cheese omlette, 2 eggs over easy with home fries and bacon or rice and beans, steak and eggs (scrambled medium) with french fries, 2 eggs over easy with mangu (boiled mashed green plantain) or yuca. scrambled eggs with biscuits and sausage gravy. Eggs benedict
I only like non buttermilk pancakes (buckwheat, multi grain) and I don’t like maple syrup
Breakfast usually – Oatmeal with two teaspoons of sugar. Usually shared with a 16 month old who eats half of it. Eaten usually when it’s cold between two cups of coffee and shoveled in so I can make it to the gym.
Dream breakfast? Two eggs sunny side up, toast, hash browns, tomatoes fried. And a never ending cup of coffee – strong and black!
Rye Toast with real butter, homefries cooked with onions and ketchup (I am dunk my toast in ketchup), omelet with American cheese and tomato. Orange Juice.
Best breakfast is scrambled egg and American cheese on an everything bagel and a large coffee. Or pancakes. Or an omelet. Or anything from Bob Evans down on the farm. Biscuits! Tea!
Um, I heart breakfast.
I LOVE BREAKFAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite breakfast is a brunch where they have table after table after table of delectible, savory AND sweet treats. Throw in a omelet station and I am good to go! Gotta have some eggs, love me some pancakes, live for bacon and don’t get me started on any baked delight such as coffee cake or a delicious fried donut, and I MUST have lots of coffe and a big ole glass of milk!!!! AAAAAH! I LIVE for breakfast. A funny side note: I married a man who doesn’t eat and HATES breakfast. If I could change one thing about him, that would be it.
Eggs: either once over lightly on toast (seasoned with a shake of lemon pepper) OR a well-timed soft-boiled egg in a cute egg cup like my father introduced me to.
Favorite breakfast: (sigh) steaming hot waffles with generous toppings of butter and syrup, a large amount of crispy bacon, (continuing the fantasy) crispy hash browns with onions, etc., large glass of orange juice, cup of hot cocoa with whipped cream on top, glass of water to settle it all down. Hmmm. Sounds a bit like a Waffle House visit!
Scrambled with cheese.
My dream breakfast actually comes from a little diner in Richmond, VA–right on the corner where I used to live. It was the Strawberry Street special–scrambled eggs, one pancake and shredded hash browns. YUM!!
