In order to appease and amuse the handful of peeps that have been inquiring about The Job Search I have decided to interview Mother so that you may truly have as much information as she is able to share.

Me: Good Morning.
Mother: Hey
Me: So the internets want to know about your interviews…what should I say?
Mother: Tell them I am feeling hopeful for the first time in months.
Me: Can I say anything beyond that?
Mother: Sure.
Me: um…care to help me out here?
Mother: I had two good, in person, interviews (you can reference your posts about Baltimore & DC) with a legal staffing firm regarding both permanent and temporary placement. Both were interested and may I say slightly excited?
Me: Yes. You may say that.
Mother: I wasn’t finished.
Me: Oh.
Mother: Slightly excited about my prospects, which of course has made you and me slightly excited as well. It has been a long time since anyone would actually speak with me and it feels like forever since I met someone face to face. And to have them go all positive on me when we are talking gives me a surge of hopeful expectation.
Me: May I interject that you looked so pretty on your interview days?
Mother: Oh wow. Haven’t felt like that either in a long time.
Me: Anything else you would like to share with the internets?
Mother: I am to send more information to the DC recruiter and I have another interview with another temp staffing company on Friday. You could say it has amazed and amused us as to how these opportunities came to pass. All very serendipitously over-woven with kindness.

(yes. My Mother does use phrases like, “serendipitously over-woven”.)

Mother: Needless to say I am continuing to search tirelessly (and tiredly) and apply for every possibility that I can find.
Me: Go team!

(as for other bits of family grunt work news: I apparently was to have an interview with the local social services yesterday morning, but according to their records they failed to mail me or call me to let me know. Brilliance. All of my paperwork is in for W’s insurance but it looks like this phantom interview is the final hurdle. Waiting for someone to call me back to reschedule.)

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for those job possibilities to come to fruition. Your mom talks like a lawyer. I’m a lawyer, as is my husband. There are plenty of “I wasn’t finished yets” in our house.
