I can’t believe I didn’t write a moving and heartfelt post about Sesame Street yesterday. Or maybe I did and it is only readable on Snuffleupogus’s google feed. Because I am a hard core fan and remember the original story line where ol’ Aloysius was imaginary. So. um. yeah. Check your reader, Snuffy.
And here is where I update some moving stuff, you know in case there is an obscure drinking game going on out there and people need to know.
We selected a method of moving: ABF, baby. We* pack, they ship. And then we* unload and store. The giant storage trailer arrives on November 18th. Yup. That is in one week. The * is actually going to be a couple of guys we are hiring on the 19th. We will have the trailer picked up on the 23rd and they will be taking the slow/holiday leisure route (at our request) and the trailer will arrive at the storage facility we reserved (near where we will be staying) on December 1st or 2nd.
Before the trailer leaves here we will then clean the carpets and the rental house and once the trailer is picked up we will get on the road. We have a quick stop to make in Atlanta and then we will be heading to the mid-atlantic.
And for your amusement- guess who had a really great 2nd round call with a certain place in Nebraska. I guess the Universe is keeping things interesting. Because we are so clearly bored with nothing to do. heh.

Second round is good! Hopefully, the Universe will give you an answer better than “maybe”.
SMOOCH!
I second that! And I dedicate today’s EDB photo to you!
I’m glad things are starting to happen for you.
Glad the ball is rolling, though sorry for the stress! And you better believe I let out a huge SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE to the last paragraph. ;o)
Good luck with the job and the move!
Wow, things are moving so quickly! Hopefully you can enjoy some of the adventure of it, despite all the stress!
Fingers crossed on ALL fronts, hon.
well even if the universe answers in nebraska, you can get your cube sent there. no worries! right? right!
I don’t usually comment but felt I had to try to reassure you. My family moved from St. Petersburg FL to Sacramento CA and used ABF. They were on time, charged what they said they would, and if we ever make a long distance move again they will be the first and only call I make. In fact, we moved in 2006 and the cost is about the same today(I did an online quote on an off chance move from here to MA, our home state). That I hope takes a little stress off of you.
Nyx
P.S. This is my personal experience, not a paid advertisement LOL
Wow, you guys are soooo fast and efficient when it comes to making decisions! I understand it is out of necessity but respect is due nontheless. You are doing a great job!
So glad that you figured out a good plan! When will you be in Atlanta–would love to meet you for lunch or a quick stop! E-mail me if you’re interested.
Yay second round. And yay decisions… it’s all going to be stressful and expensive anyway so you might as well just get ‘er done.
Awesome on the second round phone call!
You guys are just moving right along, take a breathe and enjoy a little bit of the adventure, you get to have a fresh start. Safe travels!!!
Given the fact that we live in a military town, there are always people comiiing and goooing (worst Forrest Gump impersonation ever). There are always moving trucks and vans in my neighborhood, and every time I see an ABF truck I always think of Task of Awful But Functioning.
It’s clear that you guys are functioning, but I hope it’s not all awful.
loves you
Glad you got it figured out! Interesting is right!
Moving right along.
Footloose and fancy free.
Getting there is half the fun; come share it with me.
Moving right along.
We’ll learn to share the load.
We don’t need a map to keep this show on the road.
You’d better recognize the song or I am kicking you out of the club.
Phew – I’m glad you guys have things moving along so quickly and were able to find the right fit for your move. I hope it all goes smoothly and the transition is easy for everyone.
I hope it all goes smoothly for you guys with the packing, moving etc. I’ll be thinking of you. That Murphy (murphys law) is a tricky one throwing that Nebraska interview in there now.
Oh wow! Good luck, with getting it all together and please; I know you have soooo much to do (I wish I could be there to help you out), but please remember to take some special care of yourself! It’s all happening so fast and I’m sure it must feel like a damn tornado to you! Please know how loved you all are and that you have the strength of all of us behind you.
P.s. – Happy birthday Sesame Street!!!!! (yesterday)
just so you know…every day this week when i logged in to g00gle your blog ~ i was WAITING for a sesame street post. *pout* i only cut you some serious slack because well, you are moving.
love you anyway
PS ~ my old college roomie and i used to drive up to college together and whenever we saw the ABF trucks, she would go: “aah, aah…ahboof!” (like a sneeze, but was her pronunciation of ABF ~ i to this day think of her when i see one of their trucks and hear that silly sneeze. i am happy to be able to think of you and mother and W now, instead)
sorry for the stupid story. aching feet will make you ramble. (i took care of FOUR PATIENTS ON MY OWN LAST NIGHT ~ including…transfusing blood on one of them!)
Well, now that you have a plan in place, people hired, and a schedule…your mom will be getting the job in Nebraska. There’s nothing like making plans to cause a major upheaval in the universe!
Much luck, and thanks for stopping by after the wish post.
