Tomorrow morning we are leaving for an overnight trip to Savannah. I am very, very much looking forward to it! I will be back on-line sometime Saturday. (with photos, of course!)
So I loved these questions that ya’ll asked. Thank you for such thoughtful and interesting ones. I will post some answers now and the rest will go up tomorrow. And if you have a question pose it here and I will do a part III. Here we go:
Alison asks:
1) What would WW’s name have been if he was a she? Were you considering any other boy names?
Like many of you I have always had a name at the ready for a child. Of course in my mind I was always going to have a daughter and so I only had the one name. Sure I pondered many girl names, but I always, always came back to the one. If/when I ever have a daughter it will be her name. I won’t type it out but it is the name of my Great-Grandmother. Here is someone that also had this name:

As far as other boy names…well there was a moment that I considered naming W after my Grandfather but I just couldn’t do it. Maybe if I have another son I will be ready, but right now I only have room for one person to have that name.
If he weighed over a certain weight he would have been named Bartholomew. True story.
I like family names a lot and even have a little note paper where I jotted names down throughout the years of my dreaming and hoping. There are some crazy names in my family- and I do mean crazy- somewhere in my family tree there was a man named Happy Riddle S____.
2) How many states have you visited? Are there any you haven’t been to but wish to see?

The above map shows in red all of the states that I have visited. You can make your own here. Um…looks like I am clearly missing a big chunk of the nation. heh.
I would love to visit Maine, New Hampshire, Washington, Montana.
And in a few weeks I get to punch my Iowa ticket!
3) Are you amazed with the speed and voracity that such a little man has captured your heart?
It has been shocking. I mean up until the moment I saw him everything I knew about love, and my capacity to feel it, has been in theory or hypothetical. Now I see the world so so differently.
Kristin asks:
Is there anything you’ve always dreamed of doing (traveling, becoming a rocket scientist, whatever)?
There is actually a career path that I wish I had pursued. I wish I had studied puppeteering. I absolutely feel like I missed a bit of a calling to go into children’s television. I mean you guys think that I have a bit of a love affair with all things muppet but it goes deeper than that. I used to collect puppets and put on shows and I had a clear vision of doing that as a career.
And then, around the 7th grade, I decided that it just wouldn’t be a realistic career path and decided to study acting instead. You know, because becoming a stage star was THAT much more attainable for me. bwha ha ha!
Shari asks:
What type of camera do you shoot with?
Canon digital rebel EOS 6.3 megapixel

What editing program do you use?
Photoshop Elements 3. I keep thinking that one day I will upgrade to the newer versions, but really this program does almost everything I need. It is also the program that I use to put together headers.
Eva asks:
Where do you get your news?
CNN. If the tv is on during the day it is usually on the main CNN station. When I come home after running errands or visiting GM the first thing I do (after attending to W’s immediate needs) is turn on CNN. I just have this stupid fear that I have to check that the world is still here and didn’t go away while I was off doing other things.
But I also am absolutely guilty of using The Daily Show as my secondary news source.
What do you buy most often at the grocery store?
I really had to stop and think about this. I guess eggs? Or cheerios? Um. Bread? Yeah!! That’s it. Bread.
Care asks:
What book character would you totally love to be for a week?
I would love to be Anne of Green Gables. But I need to think about what week of her life I would want to live…But seriously. Anne. All the way. Mmmmmmm. Gilbert.
Favorite summer recipe?
This is easy! Sweet tea. Personally I find this recipe a bit too sweet. (ok, it is a LOT too sweet) but it is how tea has been made in my family for decades and so it is how I make it for Mother.
You can find a photo recipe post on how to make REAL sweet tea here.
Ever thought about opening a shop on etsy or ebay and selling photos?
For about two weeks I had a little shop on cafepress, but I didn’t put a lot of thought into it. And honestly I don’t feel like the things I take photos of daily would generate any interest outside of my friends and family. But it is a life goal to take some classes in digital photography so that I can expand my scope.
Check back tomorrow for Part II.

i think you need to visit illinois.
I love Anne of Green Gables. I think I’d have to spend my week as Meg though, of the L’Engle books.
Puppeteering sounds so cool. And, for photo editing, Ashampoo Photo Commander rocks for the simple tasks (resizing, simple collages, red eye removal) and the price is amazing. And, for more complex tasks (animated gifs, selective colorization, etc) I highly recommend GIMP. GIMP is free, yeah FREE, and does everything Photoshop does. I have the links for GIMP and its tutorials in a post http://thefertileinfertile.blogspot.com/2009/04/perfect-moment-monday-picture-magic_20.html on my blog.
Dude, I don’t know who that lady is. I’m bad with history. And if she’s an actress prior to like 1995, I’m bad with my classic movies.
But she is pretty.
And IOWA? You’re coming to Iowa? That’s exciting! What are you doing in IOWA? You know what state is right next to IOWA, right?!
I love Anne of Green Gables. I used to watch my VHS’d tape (recorded from PBS of course) over and over and over. I’d make fun of how they said “sorry”. Ahhh.
You’ve been to Nevada. I was there. So were JBJ and Arnold. Remember?
Ps. is that M@mie? There would be serious upheaval if you tried to name a child M@mie. That’s just cruel.
is that WC’s wife? as in there is a type of citrus with that name?
Um W is waaaay waaaay too cute! Love his eyes! When you expand your red plotting to the rest of the world, add Egypt and come see me.
Anne was my favorite book as a child. I LOVED her!
Any interest in starting your own business as a children’s photographer? You’d be great at it, and the hours are flexible.
You could still be a puppeteer and have your own kids show, just wait, it will be born out of you entertaining Captain Adorable!
Oh my goodness, what a beautiful photo of that sweet boy.
Even though I don’t live there anymore, I recommend Minnesota. Northern Minnesota. Oh, how I miss it.
