at least you have some FABULOUS company in the meantime waiting with you :)

i am purging my bedroom, and found a little piece of TTC notes before i ever knew any terminology ~ it was one of those “ask dr so-and-so about [medication] in pregnancy…” notes. its weird. i had forgotten my life with the exgf very much included some dead serious plans for me to have our babies. it was weird but did not make me sad. i almost saved the index card to scan for IVP-posterity sake, but the angel on my shoulder said *pitch it now* and so i did.

wish you were here to keep me company while i purge out 99.9% of the things occupying my room. it is long overdue…

xoxo

Come on, Snork! Time to vacate!

Reply

6 Melissa April 5, 2009 at 5:17 pm

Go walk a mall or something with very hard concrete floors…isn’t that supposed to induce labor? Geez…..haven’t you waited long enough????

Reply

7 Lydia April 5, 2009 at 5:32 pm

Can’t you eat some spicy food or hop up and down or something?
Lookit me… like I know jack about being pregnant.

Snork needs to stop being so lazy. How’s he going to get into a good college with those attitude? ;)

Reply

8 Lydia April 5, 2009 at 5:34 pm

THAT attitude. Me speak English.

Not going to annoy you by saying “Hang in there!”. I hated when people told me that, instead I am going to concentrate really, really hard and send labor vibes your way. I may not know you but I want you to feel that amazing weight of a baby on your chest. You deserve it, your snork deserves it and hopefully it happens sooner rather than later!

I’d trade places in a second, but on the other hand I also know how anxious I was to meet Bruiser. Mind you, I keep checking your blog like ten times a day, so I’m guilty of impatience too.

I had a long ole email for you, but I’m not getting off my ass to finish it, so I’ll just give you a quickie here.

I know waiting is hard. And throughout the months, you know my opinions on inductions. Not that you have to pay mind to my very negative opinions about early inductions, since you won’t be getting one, as I am perfectly okay with a week past due date inductions (plus, anything medically necessary.) The fact you are progressing AT ALL is good news for your possible induction too. I had a “my cervix is nowhere near ready” induction and it was THE most painful thing in the history of man. So being pastdue when they’ll do it (if they need to), you should be fine.

What I wanted to mention was about progression. From my experience, as long as it’s doing SOMETHING, and I mean going from tight to even a fingertip is ALL you need to know labor will, in fact, come. I can’t include Ella’s birth because it was a fully induced labor, but for Allie and Karl, I was fingertip to 1 cm for days (even weeks) ahead of the delivery and once my body was ready, I went from a fingertip to 10cms within the hours. So don’t be bummed AT ALL to find out that you are “only” 1/2 or 1cm, because it means shit as to the future. When you go into labor, you don’t NEED to have a bunch of progression.

IN these last few moments, meditate. And take some pictures of yourself. I promise you will miss miss miss being pregnant so badly, that “stopping to smell the roses” right now will be something you will be so happy you did!

Snork reminds me of my youngest daughter – taking their sweet time to get out. Don’t worry one way or another Snork will be here soon!

Just got in from a movie and raced to check in you ‘n’ Snork… (Duplicity, very average, but had me guessin’ until the end) Rest up, you never know when you will suddenly find yourself at the start of what is the equivalent of a marathon.

And, besides, today ain’t ovah yet!

Reply

24 Tinker April 5, 2009 at 10:27 pm

I went overdue with my first too and was induced at 41w. It’s just such a letdown to have all that buildup to the “due date”, then to still be pregnant for days afterward. I had really awful edema and it was brutally uncomfortable, so time was practically standing still.

All that to say, I have great sympathy.

This time around, a scheduled delivery is cutting out any possibility of going overdue. Only 3.5d to go!

Reply

25 Care April 5, 2009 at 10:32 pm

I agree, waiting sucks. Hopefully Snork won’t keep you waiting too much longer!

Reply

26 cait April 5, 2009 at 10:59 pm

It’s agonizing, isn’t it? I don’t know if the fact that it wasn’t my body made things better or worse, but it was a very crazy-making time. The full moon is coming though, and that was good for a number of people I know, including us with Natalie. Teddy took a hurricane. Can’t wait to hear how Snork decides to emerge.

I know the pain of being overdue…and although having the baby in the arms makes the memory of those two weeks a little less painful, I haven’t forgotten. I didn’t want to answer the phone anymore (they call as if I wouldn’t tell people if I actually had the baby). The one bonus was that I got to head to the hospital at a scheduled time and didn’t have to be anxious about having the baby in the car which was one of my earlier anxieties.
I’m sending you plenty of labor and delivery vibes. I hope that Snork wants to find his own way out instead of having to have someone show him the way.
