Oh, right, there is an “E” there

by on April 2, 2009

Check me out all blogging on my due date and shit. Yup, just sitting at my desk and reading blogs and e-mails.

Last night I stayed up until just past midnight. As if the clock would roll over to April 2nd and TA DA labor would happen. Now that it is almost 10am I am reminded that there is an E in front of due dates: estimated. I also know that I am not considered past due for another two weeks.

I have my weekly OB appointment tomorrow afternoon but the “I word” (induction) won’t be brought up until NEXT week. Unless of course there is something wonky going on, but I don’t feel wonky. I feel pretty ok.

I will confess that yesterday evening I spent some quality time googling acupressure points and labor induction. Every solid bit of research basically says it is safe to try these points once you hit your due date, but to also be aware that just because you are “due” does not mean you are ready. So mashing on the points may not be effective.

That being said I forwarded the information to Mother and this morning she jabbed her elbows into my back and poked my ankles with her thumbs. The ankle points HURT. It felt like she was pressing hard into a bruise (even when she swore she was barely touching me). The shoulder points didn’t hurt much, but the lower back ones were horrible. Afterwards I felt a few Toni Braxtons, but nothing else.

I am guessing Mother will be all too happy to do the pressure points often today as she REALLY wants to win my baby pool!

In a few minutes we are leaving to go visit GM. Mother called last night to see how her day was and we were pleasantly surprised to hear that it had been a good day for her. I hope today is good as well.

My daughter was due on December 15, didn’t show up til Jan 2. Happy New Year, right? That year (1983) Jan 2 was on a Sunday, and the previous Friday, they told me that if I hadn’t had her by Monday, they were going to induce. I guess she finally got the message because she showed up after only 5 hours of “real” labor. Here’s to an easy delivery for you!

You should take your tootsies in to get a pedicure – sometimes they hit those pressure points and set off labor. But they make your feet feel fantastic for an hour or so too! :)

Happy due date! I’m waiting on pins and needles.

As a preemie mommy, I take special joy in seeing women reach their “real” due date. I know that it doesn’t really matter, and the Snork could have just as easily been born two week ago, or two weeks from now, and been perfectly fine…..but I love hearing about a woman reaching her due date!

So, congrats on a milestone and on a healthy, long pregnancy.

Now…..evict that baby so we can see him!!!!

Hold out for another 6 days Snork— this way I can 1) win the baby pool and 2) we can share a birthday!

I did pretty much anything I could think of. I even tried a pregnancy massage even though I abhor massages (why yes, I am a freak of nature). Nothing helped. BUT, I am not you.

Come ON Snork! Aunt Becky is getting anxious.

YAY for making your due date! Maybe Snork wants to be fashionably late, but not TOO late of course. I was told to walk, uhhh I walk all the time! I just waited and waited ever so patiently ;o)

Woo! I can’t believe today is/was supposed to be the day. I’m still holding out that I will win the baby pool and you have to name him Bartholomew.

word is eggplant parmesean helps, but who knows? I had some the night before I was induced but of course there isn’t a “no eggplant” control.
