You are the best sports evah!

I seriously love you guys for allowing me my absolute moment of goofdom early this morning. And to even gesture further how MUCH of a goof that I am – I had actually been planning the previous post for AGES. And every time I would think about it I would laugh and laugh…Of course Mother, every time she would catch me chuckling, would proclaim that I was totally jinxing myself.

But I am telling you on this fine due date Eve I do not feel any sort of, well whatever it is that one might feel that would indicate that things will be happening soon. The Snork feels positively lounged out and settled in. Hell I even think he bought a new lamp.

I probably should take this moment to fill you in on a few things to make up for my childish prankified posting:

1) While the name Grover Tartan is delicious and satisfying on SO many levels for me (& totally what I told the OB nurses I was going to use which then set into motion their desperate need to help me find a BETTER name) but sadly, this is not Snork’s name. I do promise that once the Snork is external you will totally know his name. I also promise that his name is not affiliated with any Muppet characters or my plaid leanings …

2) I also promise not to go all quiet and then just magically post a, “He’s here!” message. Unless I am in an emergency situation and can not get to my computer you should fully expect, at the very least, a post containing the phrase, “OW OW OW! Going to the hospital!” Or, you know, something like that.

3) Aside to the Universe: I was SO kidding about the 13lbs 13oz thing. Joking. As in- that would be an absurd poundage to push out. Please don’t go there for me!

4) All natural?? Ha ha ha. While I am in utter and complete awe to anyone that can proclaim that they will go drug free during birth I know myself well enough that I am not that person.  I’m the gal that gets the weeps with bad period cramps. Just saying- don’t expect me to be the next natural birth poster person.

5) I put a poll like this up at the IVP and was fascinated by the results, so I thought I would poll you guys.  I can’t include all of the variables (scheduled c- section, inductions), but if you have stipulations to make regarding what your answer is please let me know. I am also allowing for multiple choices to be selected for those with more than one child.

Do you know what SOPA is?

P.S. In a moment of random there is a stork in my backyard. Here by the Florida rains or did I totally just skew the odds with my joke…

:D I loved the post, but think it’s bound to doom you to be, like, 2 weeks late. ;-)

I had scheduled c-sections with all of mine so my input would skew the results. I think in two days, though, you’ll go into labor. Start labor Friday night and deliver at O’dark:30 in the morning.

Yeah, Elizabeth was quite well marinated.

Now, have the Snork on my day in the baby pool. It would only be fair.

I haven’t delivered yet and my due date was YEARS ago. This is some bullshit.

I have to admit, I am a little sad that the kid isn’t actually going to be named Grover. And by a little, I mean a lot.

I’m thinking there’s some sort of jinx in progress. Maybe a really late delivery date or you’ll be in there today. ;-)

Yanno, I set up residence in my mom’s waterbed for 2 extra weeks. I’d like to say it’s because I hadn’t fully obtained my feminine figure, I was only 8lbs and would have been more like 6 or less if born on time.
Most likely or not Snork will come late and come out laughing at you AND our birth pool.

I delivered my bio DS 9 weeks early. Our newest addition was 2 weeks(!) late. We drove to Georgia from Texas to be there for his delivery and had to hand around in Atlanta for 2 weeks while he took his sweet time to make an appearance.

I think we’re the same person. It’s my due date eve and not a flutter do I feel, even though my doc says he thinks I’ll go into labor by the end of the week.

If your kid bought a lamp, then mine is picking out paint chips because seriously, what the heck is he doing in there?!

Both my boys were ripped from my womb (ha ha) by c-section at 2 weeks past their due dates. It’s hereditary, I was born on my due date (I’m always on time) but my brothers were 2 weeks late and 3 weeks late (11 pounds). Both my grandmas gestated for about 42 weeks also.

I haven’t ever evicted a squatter, but I was 8 days late and my younger sister was 4 days late.

The womb is too nice. Snork wants to hang in for as long as he can. And that new lamp of his really is perfect. But sooner or later, a pipe will spring a leak or he’ll run out of room or he’ll just get evicted.

I always envisioned going into labor in the middle of the night, so was shocked when my water broke at 9:00 A.M. in the morning, 6 days after my due date. Also, it was a trickle… so anticlimactic. I wasn’t sure if my water had broken or I had peed my pants. My midwife had to confirm my water had actually broken before I believed it. Then I didn’t go into labor for 10 hours, and only finally did after an hour of acupuncture and taking castor oil twice. What can I say? Jo wanted to stay put. But Mother Nature had other plans.

Enjoy it while it lasts, Snork. And Grover Tartan is a great name, even if you’re not using it. ;)

I have a friend who had a 13 lb baby – so it is possible. Perhaps not preferred. And certainely nothing you would want to experience as part of natural child birth.

Oh – hahahahahaha – those poor OB nurses. You’re TERRRRRRRRRRRIBLE.

Mind you, I fell for it too. I was a bit… “oooo-er, Calli. That’s a but, er, out there honey.”

Two days early for both, hence my two day early prediction for you too.
Waiting (im)patiently.

I went 6 days before my due date but I was induced. Good luck dear and I can’t wait for the news!!!!

7 days overdue. Planned induction that didn’t go anywhere. Finally had a c-section (good thing b/c he was wrapped up in the cord three times. The kid still likes to wrap things around his neck).

Good luck! From my very, very brief experience with labor, it was really bad period cramps.

I was induced at 37w5d for pre-e. My water breaking felt like a balloon inside me had popped (which is close to the truth, I guess). Labor for 12 hrs (YAY epidural!). The best part (other than meeting Sol!) was the empowerment that came from pushing — pushed him out in 20 minutes! :)

My strategy (formulated during he previous month’s bedrest) was that I was going to put everything I had into pushing from the start and if I couldn’t do it they could just section me. I knew I wouldn’t have stamina to keep pushing for a long time, so thankfully it worked! I have a feeling that’s not a standard tactic…

Can’t wait to hear about all of your experiences with this and meet the Snork!

N was born right on his due date. Went to bed with no symptoms, woke up in the early morning in labor. Course that was after several months of bedrest because the little bugger tried to come a wee bit early. E and C were both evicted by induction, at 3 days and 8 days before their due dates, respectively. Left to their own devices, I’m sure they would have hung out quite a while longer.
