And then there is Ann

by on January 7, 2009

My alarm went off at 6:30 this morning. I went back to bed. I woke up in a panic at 7:00am on the dot. Turned on the television to make sure the world had not blown up in the middle of the night. The tv happened to be on NBC so I listened as I made my bed and washed my face. And then I heard the voice. Heard the tone. Heard the statements. And my stomach groaned and my brain flickered.

Ann Coulter.

Oh my fucking GAWD. The things that come out of this woman’s mouth. I mean. HOLY SHIT. I mean it is beyond me that she comes up with this stuff and then even MORE beyond me that people buy into it.

COULTER: Yes, it’s very sensitive. Well, and it’s something that needs to be said. What I’m saying is there is no better example of victimizers who are treated like victims, and single mothers. This was not an accident that the illegitimacy rate has gone up 300 percent since 1970. This was a plan by liberals. Liberals claim…

COULTER: Seventy percent of the inmates in prisons right now come from single-parent families. Seventy percent of teenage runaways. Seventy percent of teenage delinquents, 70 percent of drug abuse. All of this is a problem, not just of illegitimacy, of single motherhood. And single motherhood is…

(above from here)

And also, according to Coulter, Single mother’s raise strippers.

She goes on and has plenty to say about Obama- especially in terms of race.

So let me just save you, my friends, change the channel if you see her. I still can’t get the taste of her hurtful and careless words out of my mind.

It is a very dangerous and unhelpful line of thought that equates crime with single Mothers. And to say that liberals and the media are helping establish a victimization of single motherhood is just nuts.

Here’s the thing about Ann: I loathe her. Seeing her makes my blood boil. Hearing her makes me want to throw things. My husband finds her hilarious.

I’m serious.

He says he laughs because there’s no way that she’s serious. No way that she really means it all and that it’s not an (incredibly lucrative) joke and the joke is on us. He is amazed at her ability to say it all with a straight face.

I find her dangerous, even if the joke is on me. Because somewhere, people listen and are going, yes! she’s exactly right.

Listening to anything she has to say is a waste of time. The only reason she gets air time is because the only things she says are inflammatory and out there.

She is the conservative circus freak everyone has to look at even though she disgusts them.

I ignore her at all times no matter what.

So, do we need to put the stripper pole on the baby registries? Little prison onesies?

Ann Coulter is a nut, just like Anita Bryant but with updated packaging and Miss Piggy hair. Ignore her. She’s a hater and eventually her hate will turn on her and eat her alive.
Conservatives ran the country for the past eight years and look what a great job they did. Her star is fading fast. She was news at one time because the media saw her an an oddity: an attractive young, well-educated woman who took issue with the so-called “liberal” line.
At one time she produced some interesting, but misguided ideas. lately, she’s just been nuts.
The problem with families headed by single women is economics plain and simple. Women, on the whole, are paid less than men. Women who have children without a partner to help tend the kids and pay the bills can sometimes be less than secure financially. However, that is not to say they can’t provide loving homes and produce exemplary children.

Don’t be hurt by her. She is one of the most vile human beings on the planet. I think she only gets air time because she gets such a reaction.

I just re-read my comment and it didn ‘t sound the same in my head as it did on the screen. She truly is a vile person and I think people as a whole enjoy watching a trainwreck. She is total train wreck city, so they put her on the air to show the train wreck. She reminds me of Jerry Spinger in that way. I don’t even know any Conservatives who like her anymore.

I was taking a happy peaceful shower this morning while Ann was on the today show…

And then Jenn started screaming and cussing and calling our tv every name in the book…I thought it had caught fire.

That woman is vile.

She is completely rediculous and I don’t even think she’s sane. She’s obnoxious for the sake of being obnoxious, and 99% of what she says doesn’t even make SENSE. Though I’m truly independant at my core, I waver from left to right depending on the issue, please know that when I’m at my conservative core I hate that she associates herself with conservative Americans, because she’s SO everything I am not.

I am all for free speech, but the networks who choose to broadcast this woman’s lunatic rantings should be ashamed of themselves.

Wow. I was raised by a single mother (not her choice) and I’ve never stripped. Of course now that I’m going to be a single mother by choice – I’ll have to watchout. I cant have a toddler running around without a shirt – what would the neighbors thing!

The poles can do double duty. We can use them to work off the baby weight.

Chris, Salome and Dora…I love you guys!

I almost hurled the tv out of the window this morning. She makes me sick. I cannot believe all the things she says and how no one is boycotting this b*tch. But of course she’ ll be defended by her friends over on FoxNews.

Shall we get the snork a g-string now or later (do they call them g-strings for the boys?)

She is an ass! Someone should send her an e-mail with the name of all the Republicans/Conservatives that are from single parent homes that have “made good”.

Yeah, Ann is an annimated sock puppet that the conservatives bring out to scare people when they are feeling blue. Her opinon is uneducated and brash and her mewling rehetoric serves little purpose but to shake the trees and watch the nuts fall. She makes me stabbity. And oh yeah, her stats are wrong.

But she isn’t worth getting angry over, even though I do. Those who believe her are idiots in their own right and those who don’t waste their energy getting angry. She detracts from the things in life we should be focusing on.

Like chocolate. and stripper poles.

de-lurking on this one – So I am not a single mom, I just feel like it since my wife is an ob resident… but I am sure that neither my son nor your lil-one-to-be are in much danger of becoming strippers or convicts because they are going to be growing up showered in almost more love than a being can stand. & I hope that your weds. just got better & better.

And what are the stats on single dads?? I mean why is it that single moms get singled out? Such bullshit. To all of you single moms out there, wether by choice or not, I say – GIVE EM HELL!!! There is no harder thankless job, and to do it “alone” (I say it that way because generally we women have wonderful support systems) speaks volumes of the depth of your heart and soul. Unfortunately the way our system is set up, it is so very difficult to work and make the money that you have to make to raise a child and be around at every second when your child needs you, most especially in poor urban areas – meaning that quite a lot of children are left to fend for themselves in some way or another. Now if pay scales were fair and food costs were reasonable… if after school programs weren’t axed left and right… if reasonable health care were available to every single person… well it would all be a different picture now wouldn’t it? i just think it’s so funny that this is the fault of liberals and the media when in fact it is the fault of the sexist, racist, greedy government that has perpetuated itself for hundreds of years now….. Lord what a rant, sorry. This is why I don’t listen to any of that crap, just gets me all riled up. Love you!

Ann Coulter is a troubled soul. How very tragic for her mother to have a daughter who is filled with such a lack of empathy. As I am trying to be kind, I will not mention delusional, woops…slipped out.

Hey……I didn’t realize that stripping was such a viable option for my boys! Just think of all the gigs they can book as the “Twincredible Twosome…….twin baby strippers raised by a single mom!”

Coulter’s an ass…….

If it makes you feel better, she recently had to have her jaw wired shut.

I was raised by a single mother and I turned out great, so fuck her.

I’m not a fan of this word and don’t use it myself, but if the shoe fits …

Ann Coulter is what a friend of mine would call a ‘see you next tuesday.’ Seriously. Her picture is next to the word in the dictionary.

I caught her interview with Matt Lauer this week, too, and I also thought she was awful. She doesn’t know what the hell she is talking about, she’s rude, and she’s mean. I honestly don’t understand who reads her books, or why she’s achieved any level of success. Aren’t those crazy religious right wing conservatives offended by her? And let me just say this: I work with criminals, and single mothers aren’t the problem. Poverty and lack of caring, lack of rules, lack of discipline, lack of jobs, lack of belief that your life will ever amount to anything, lack of belief that you can achieve more, lack of belief that you can achiever ANYTHING–THOSE are the things that lead to children growing up to be criminals. The fact that some criminals may have single mothers isn’t driving the bus.

I was raised by a single mother, no criminal activity or stripping here (much to DP’s dismay)
