While I happen to think that my dear kitty, BG Talula, is one of a kind, I do know that she has a strong resemblance to kitties of several of my bloggy friends (I think there are 4 or 5 of us with fuzzy black kitties). Whenever I catch a glimpse of one of these blog twin cats via a posted photograph or random flickr update I am amused, but not shocked. However it is sort of shocking to be farting around in a search engine and stumble across a cat that looks So much like BG that I felt this need to go look for her to make sure she was still curled up in GM’s window box.
To set the scene (and also to reveal one of my every other month search engine quests) I was doing my search for the ever allusive labyrinth rug. Almost a year ago (or maybe even more) Ikea featured a round labyrinth rug that mirrored the maze at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. I have walked the Grace labyrinth several times and it is something that was (is!) very important to me. I have short meditations about being able to walk it again as 4 generations. Sadly it looks like the Ikea rug has vanished, but sometimes there are other rugs that interest me.
This morning I was mid search, scrolling through google images looking at mostly homemade labyrinth rugs when I had to stop. There, in the midst of home made yarn, and pac-man rug photographs, was BG Talula. I mean it was TOTALLY her.
below is the search page:
freaky, right? Makes me wish there was a way to do genealogical research, DNA mapping or Sibling Registries for pets. Regardless I left a little note at the knitting blog. I know, total dork. (me, not knitting blogger)
So what weird things have you come across on line either in seach engines or in someone else’s blog?

Hi! I also have a black kitty, but he’s a grumpy adolescent male, not a nice looking adult female. But I’m really commenting to say, OH MAN that rug! I want a Labyrinth rug! It’d be perfect for my dining room. if you ever find someone that has random inventory of older Ikea products, and there is more than one, please let me know!
PS- I’m not sure I’ve commented ever, and surely not in a long time, but I’ve been keeping your GM and your Snork in my thoughts.
That totally does look like your cat! I haven’t come across my dogs online yet. Partially because Trinity is so unique looking. Of course, she was in my father-in-law’s car once when another car started honking and pointing at her and then at their fairly identical dog. Not all dogs can have wrinkly foreheads and massive underbites.
I have a friend in Chicago whose cat looks like it could be J’s cat. In fact, they COULD be related, as they’re close-ish in age (my friend’s could be J’s cat’s parent, or just of another litter) and my friend lives very close by to where J’s cat was rescued by the rescue league.
Ah, Labyrinths. I’ll go on about them at some point.
I was searching for “alison and j***” shortly after starting my blog because I swore that I’d written out j’s full name on a post and that was bascially the only thing keeping us un-googleable. I found a wedding website for a couple in Canada with our same first names. I was totally mesmerized by this. I mean we have names that are easily in the top 150 most popular names, so it’s not that earth shattering that someone else with our names would also marry. But I left a random comment on their wedding website wishing them all the best.
I assume you’ve tried cragislist for the rug? Or even maybe put out an ad in the wanted section? That makes me wish that CL had some national sub-site for finding rare items…
I came across someone else who love Daisy Kingdom stuff. I was thinking ebay for the rug your looking for but know you’ve probably already been there. Good luck finding it.
That looks exactly like your kitty! I’ve come across our kitties’ clones too – it’s kind of freaky. We have a fluffy black girl but she’s got some white coloring on her chest and kind of a different look in her eyes than yours, don’t you think?

Our neighbors are weird. We walk our dogs past their house at least three times a day (sometimes we go a different way for their 4th or 5th walk if needed). They are nice. We always say hi, they know our names, we know theres. They comment frequently on the little blackdogs we have. It’s nice. One day one of them was outside with their SECRET dog that they have apparently had for over a year and never bring her outside (hence “my neighbors are weird”) and their dog looks EXACTLY like our Zoe. I mean EXACTLY. My wife took a picture and brought it home to show me the cute picture of ZOE and tricked me! I thought it was our girl until she told me about SecretDog! Our dog is a mutt from the shelter, so this is a super BIG deal. Unlike our other dog, who is a pure bred nit-wit and we see his clone daily…
I came across someone who had my EXACT first and last name, which is not weird per se, but when you consider how unusual my maiden name is, it’s definitely a stretch to think someone else has it.
Poor girl.
Quite freaky!
Wow! That does look like your kitty!

De-Lurking for this bit of wierdness. I was looking at rugs today on Craigs List-St. Louis and there is someone selling that rug in green and white. Here is the link.
If they won’t ship, I will. I have been reading your blog forever, and if someone needs peace, it is you.
Veeeery eenteresting!
If you do get into the world of knit bloggers, you should check out Yarn Harlot. And um, she’ll be in your neck of the woods next week. Email me for details. I’d be insanely jealous if you got to see her.
Whoa that is just freaky! Maybe it is BG Tulula’s twin?
I’ve never had anything freaky like that happen to me while doing a web search… hmmm maybe I need to increase my web search time on the net….
I once accidentally dated my cousin. Freaky enough? LOL Fortunately, after a quick scan of the family genealogy, I discovered he was 300 yrs. removed from me. WHEW!
Purdy kitty.
I assumed I was the only person in the world with my name (no, seriously), but guess what? There is another me out there! I can confirm that she’s far less attractive than my fine self, and I hope people who only know me by name don’t google me, see her, and believe us to be the same person. For the record, I’m not blond, oh ye internet stalkers.

Perhaps you’ve seen this site, but I thought I’d throw it up here regardless. Seems quite expensive, especially compaired to the CL rug…but if you really want one…
i lovelovelove labyrinths. i am still kicking myself for not buying that labyrinth rug at ikea when it was so popular last year.
i am considering a labyrinth tattoo in the nearish future.
i so hope you find what you’re looking for.
