Nothing worse than being ill and having responsibilities. Just the thought of my giant poodle, a Velcro dog who moans and whimpers if I leave her to go to the bathroom, leaning against my bedroom door as I try to burrow under the covers and become blessedly unconscious, makes me feel so much worse. I drag myself out of bed to take her for a walk and she’s so grateful to see me that I feel like the most heartless dog owner alive.
