Photo Friday: Valentine’s Day

The Flowers

Shockingly the holiday dedicated to the over-saturation of chocolate and the wearing of polyester teddies was good to me. No I wasn’t romanced by a lumberjack but I didn’t over drink or cry about it either. The day was filled with nice things all the way through and I have to wonder if my ability to appreciate everything can be attributed to the Z in me.

The day began with the presentation of thoughtful gifts from Mother. Godiva liquor for GM, a nice bottle of shiraz for me, and a perfectly sized box of chocolates for us to share. GM was thrilled! Chocolate treats for breakfast make her day.

As GM had her morning nap I got this ridiculous notion that I should clean the entire house. Now here is why the notion was ridiculous- I wanted to do it. It wasn’t some sort of exasperated lament over the state of the kitchen floor. It was this creepy sensation that cleaning would be FUN! I spent most of the morning scrubbing and dusting and polishing and windexing. Ah sweet ammonia.

High on fumes and bouncing from the bliss of having a squeaky clean house I checked my e-mail. There, within the e-mails asking if I wanted a larger penis (no) and political forwards from GM’s friends, was a very, very nice e-mail with some good news. I won’t go into details yet as there is still a bit of work to be done, but this time next week I can share the goodness with you.

The rest of the day continued to be good and dare I say pleasant. It was the first good day I have had in a while.

Pictured above are the flowers that were sent to GM. Pictured here is the showcase photo winner. The Muriels will have creative control of next week’s theme and you will find out what that theme is next tuesday.

I too had a lovely Valentine’s Day and it was also quite unexpected. And I just ate dark chocolate Belgian truffles for breakfast, which is seriously the best treat possible.

Sounds like a lovely day.

I spend V day working my butt off and getting abused by my employer for being p-word. Can’t say I felt the love,

Gooooooo Z! (what you describe makes it sound like it may indeed have kicked in. That sense of being able to deal….the extra energy….it’s the real you, released by the vitamin. That’s my stance.)

Goooo good news!
