hey sara ~ we always use 2 cups for a gallon, as well!!!
ohh my. i may have to make some – just one pitcher.

and megan ~ i only grew up knowing this as “iced tea” myself… when the whole “sweet tea” thing started at mc’donalds and such, i was like HUH? and then i tasted it, and thought – THAT is iced tea!!! hehehe

Two questions:
what brand of tea do you use?
how big is your pitcher (1/2 gallon or gallon)?
I’ve largely given up sweet tea *sigh*, but I love to splurge every now and then. Yours sounds fantastic!

mmmmmm. i grew up not knowing that this was “sweet tea,” it was just my mom’s “iced tea.” imagine my surprise when i found out what other Northerners called “iced tea!”

several restaurants serve it up here, and i always partake! i usually make it in the summer, but this may inspire me to do a winter brew.

and Lo: don’t know if you’ll see this, but there’s a Hardee’s on US30 in NE ohio. in case you ever find yourself thereabouts, i can give a more precise location.

only 8 spoons of sugar? Maw always made it with 2 cups….long live sweet tea….loved the slideshow!

I am almost embarrassed to admit I make my pitcher of sweet tea with 3/4 C of sugar. I also use 8 tea bags and tend to brew for an hour. Might explain why I need so much sugar! I’ve never tried adding lemon – I’m going to have to give your tutorial a try!

oh my. that is my mema’s tea!!!
i swear to god, it is more addictive than crack. one summer, i got a hankerin’ for it, and so i made some. and then mom came home and drank some. and we made more, and drank more and it is a vicious (but delicious) cycle. tho, my mema’s “sunday dinner version” had real lemons, sliced and added to the tea. it gives it a different taste with the real lemons in in. but wow.

it is freezing cold and i just got home from buying healthy groceries for school (starting to watch the weight again *ahem*) and i SO want some sweet tea. your photos are gorgeous ~ thank you for the photo essay
