smells like a convention

Since I am in the early planning stages of sorting out a trip to the Northeast I thought I would open the floor for some input.

You may ask yourself, why the fuck does Calliope need input.

One word: Convention

As in I want to have a zany, crazy, girl squealie, compare and contrast tales from the stirrups kind of pow-wow, clam-bake, shin-dig, meeting sort of thing. And if you can get your infertile ass to NYC you are invited. (well, maybe. I may have to do some screening of any unfamiliars. Not that I don’t love you, but well, you know. In order to get through the 4th wall with me there is a shit load of security clearance needed. & I may make you sign something.)

My trip will start in Boston, but I have decided that I just want to hunker down with my friend, her husband & their new baby.

Then I will be coming to NYC. Not sure when, or for how long. That is where you come in. If I say “first week of November” do you say, “available!!” or do you say, “holy shit- that is the ONE week that I will be away!” ?

And where is a good place to meet? (feel free to ponder that via an e-mail to me rather than in a comment) And are weekends better? Weekday nights? Anybody have any connections to a grade school gym so that we can have a sleep over? I just don’t know how I can only do just a lunch or dinner- I need MORE!

Let the planning begin!

If I’m to stay up late and be involved in anything resembling giggling like a schoolgirl, it has to be a Saturday night. Fridays I am totally exhausted and can’t stay awake. And all other days I have to get up for work the next morning.

Don’t go to New York! Come to California. Hello????

  3. Lo on September 30th, 2006 8:00 pm

    Yay NYC!!!!!!!

We’re around. Don’t have any grade school gym connections but will ponder the problem. Second Bri’s “Saturday Night” suggestion.

Yay! I can only get down to the city (4 hour drive, boo) on the weekend, but would love to come down and break your fourth wall. First weekend of november sounds grand.

    weekends - YES. MUCH better.

And, um, you’ll stay with us, right?

    My birthday is November 1st!!!!

    SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Ok Nov. 4th is a Saturday. We can either reserve a private room in a resturant OR try to get a room at the center (www.gaycenter.org)and pass the hat for rent and everyone bring snackies and BYOB.

I think I like the idea of the Center.

I can do the first weekend of November in NYC….Weekends ARE better.

Though, I’m also very very close to Boston…

my bday is november 5th….(waves to sophia!) last year i was trapped on a cross-country plane all day on my bday, so if i/we can, maybe i can have a better bday this year. and you know, if it’s okay if we crash the party.

Can’t you just come out of hunkering for a wee minute to cause trouble with me in MA? ;)

p.s. I don’t have the first clue how to make a feed. I tried but I can’t get the darned thing to work.

First weekend in Nov is not great for me, guys! It’s GMB’s birthday, too, and I will be busy with him at least some of the time. Ack.

Yay! We’re so excited about you coming and about having a convention, clam bake, and/or confabulation!

I second Sophia’s suggestion of having it at the Center. I’m pretty sure it’s cheap to rent a good-sized space there, and then as Sophia already suggested, we could do a pot-luck or whatever. Or I’m up for her reserve a room at a restaurant suggestion as well.

Yay! I’m tentatively marking it on my calendar.

I want to come! Flights that have a Saturday night layover are cheaper and if I come I’ll need to do this trip as cheap as possible.

  13. Jennifer on October 1st, 2006 4:32 pm

ack! I’d love to come but Susan is working nights that weekend. Maybe I’ll see if I can get her to take some time off to watch the kidlets while I go party with my fellow bloggers.

Gah! Google is logging me in as ME - so just imagine Quincy inspecting the toilet next to my name here…

Hmmm, this all sounds very promising.

We have a guest bed in Malka’s room, and soon (Hopefully, if Jen*-i-fuc*-vertibles ever shows up with our new sofa) wil have a NICE sofa bed - so we could host a few - like Cali and Jenni perhaps?

Weeee - this could be FUN FUN FUN!

Will have to rack my brain to see if I can dig up any connections to a larger space, but we would love to come IF it’s ok for us to be there with a baby. PLEASE be honest - we’ve been in the place where other people’s babies are a reminder of what isn’t there - and tell us if it would not be cool.

If it *is* ok for us to be there, pretty much any weekend works after Oct. 15.

  16. Jennifer on October 2nd, 2006 2:24 am

The above Jennifer is Jen as in Jen, Cait & Natalie. This Blogger vs. Blogger Beta is annoying!

Oh, bugger, bugger, bugger… way too far away for said convention!

Next time you’re on the West Coast of Australia though…

  18. Kate on October 2nd, 2006 3:34 pm

I posted above…but my this sounds interesting, pending my work schedule. Can you believe I’ve never been to NYC? Shocking!

  19. Estelle on October 2nd, 2006 6:47 pm

Is it open only to infertiles?
If I could convince AJ to go to NY… I would be there. Oh I want to go so so so bad. But, we really can’t.
Unless it’s the right time… and I get her liquored up… and randomly find a bunch of money…

  20. hope on October 3rd, 2006 12:43 am

We’ve never been to NYC either, but have been wanting to visit. What a nice B-day present for my girl, perhaps.

    *Sigh*

    I so want to go.

    *Double sigh*

Got something to say?
