New Theme
As the winners of last week’s Hat Theme Hope and Megan have created our theme for this week. As always, I think ideas that you internets come up with are awesome & this one, I hope, will get ya’ll out there snapping.
We want to see a wacky thing that your hometown (or current town) is known for or just something crazy that you go by every day and think “I can’t believe somebody did that/put that there.” You can make it something you love or something you hate or something you love to hate.
Fun, right? Man do I wish I lived in that small town in Georgia that has a water tower that looks like a Giant peach from one angle and a Giant ass from another…
You might be asking yourself, “Calliope- how do I get to select a theme for Photo Friday?” It’s easy. All you have to do is submit a photo. A few days later your name will be put on a poll and at the end of the week the person with the most votes is declared the champ & then THEY select the next theme. Feel free to rally votes any way you wish. And if you have a really kick ass theme that you are just dying to share perhaps simply submitting a photo with, “PICK ME” will get you someplace…
To vote this week go to the Photo Friday Pool and take a look at all the new photos. Once you have selected your favorite come back here & vote.

Got something to say?

As I see it, there are two ways to go regarding the primaries: I can vote for the few genuinely good candidates we have available (including Baxley for governor and Sue Bell Cobb for Chief Justice) and feel good but futile as I walk out of the voting booth. OR–I can switch over to the other side and vote in the GOP Primary (yes, Alabama, having no sense of the point of a two-party system, does not require voters to register as a member of any party, and then allows everyone to vote in either primary regardless of party loyalty) to vote for the lesser of some considerable evils (for instance, Bob Riley instead of Roy Moore). I have not decided which one I am going to do yet.
I am glad you did not get eaten up by the largest turtle in Christendom. Cheers, Joanna
I hate when THEY trot out the wife and kids, the whole Family Guy image when you know he’s been necking with his assistant in the back of abandoned theaters. Blick.
The ‘Pubs are on shakey ground this year so it’s going to be brutal.
Oooh, I’ve got a local oddity for ya… I just hope I can tear the local man away from his computer so I can scan it in!
I hate when words like “Christian” or “sacred” are trotted out during a political campaign. We do not live in a theocracy. We’re not all Christians or even theists. We are voting for “civil” servants, not clergy. Grr…
This from the woman whose senator used to Jesse Helms. Oy!
Sorry to be a buzzkill, Callie, but both the Republican and the Democratic primaries are on June 6. You’re just seeing so many GOP ads because they have the money, and they are all falling over themselves to sound more conservative than the other guy because the guiding principle of Alabama politics is George Wallace’s vile pledge that he would never again lose an election because he was the more liberal one of the “negro” issue (as he did early in his career). Only he used a much nastier word (check out this article about it: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000039&sid=aOgNhIQiWaH4&refer=columnist_woolner). Obviously, Alabama’s modern-day politicians have substituted what was they a safely-assumed hatred of black people for what is now a safely-assumed hatred of gay people. I’m no expert, but it doesn’t sound very Christian of them. Joanna
